The Marie Antoinette inspired wedding of Anna and Joe. They were married at the Grand Traverse Resort and Spa but this was no ordinary wedding.
Anna and Joe’s wedding was full of personal touches that made the most of the couple’s sense of style, adventure and sense of humor. The bride had a soft spot for 17th Century France and Marie Antoinette as portrayed in the famous Sofia Coppola flick starring Kristen Dunst. Each event within the wedding was reflected upon Marie’s life at Versailles from first coming to the gardens as a teen to the grand ballrooms that saw hundreds of parties. This unique vision was executed by the team of A Day in May Events and was a visual feast for the eyes! Textures, colors, layers, lighting, a party fit for royalty and plenty of cake were all a part of the fun.
The wedding ceremony took place outdoors with the rolling landscape as the backdrop and Lake Michigan in the distance. Guests were escorted into the reception with cocktails and musicians serenading before the doors opened to reveal an elegantly lit and draped ballroom. With over thirteen different linens, layered place settings and endless candlelight, the tables exuded romance and magic. As the couple cut their five tier cake with custom cake topper (a nod to the couples love of the Detroit Tigers baseball team) the curtains dropped behind them revealing a dance party complete with mirrored bars, DJ booth, black crystal chandeliers, tufted French soft seating and hot pink branding with the couples names.
